AIM Projects Call for Proposals

With support from the U.S. Department of Education, EnACT~Partnerships, Technology and Dissemination (PTD) will continue its innovative and highly successful faculty development program in support of students with disabilities across several California State University campuses. We are seeking faculty (tenured or tenure-track) to develop an online video case story that exemplifies the successful implementation of Universal Design for Learning in Higher Education. Each faculty will receive $3000 (includes benefits) for compensation and reimbursement for any development expenses.

Accessible Instructional Multimedia (AIM) refers to the use of current and emerging technologies within the postsecondary classroom to better facilitate and address accessibility issues. The following faculty and staff at SF State are recognized for their adoption and implementation of various AIM projects.

Universal Design for Learning Online Training Module

The Universal Design for Learning online training tool is a well crafted resource geared for faculty who wish to learn about how UDL applies at the postsecondary level. This self-directed online course has been divided into three modules and each module is presented in multiple formats (PowerPoint with voice over, audio only, and text only). The topics for the three individual modules include, (1) Foundations of UDL, (2) Principles of UDL, and (3) Teaching UDL in Higher Education. Clear examples, related resources, and an evaluation component make this a complete training package for faculty and faculty developers.

Redesign Your Classroom Lecture for Online Delivery and Accessibility

This AIM, authored by Jo Tomalin was developed for university faculty interested in redesigning a traditional lecture class or partial lecture class into an online format that is accessible to all students including those with disabilities. This AIM applies the tenets of UDL with an emphasis upon representation, expression and engagement."

Guide to Creating Accessible Content for the Digital Information Virtual Archive (DIVA)

Bridget McCracken, Academic Office Coordinator, Public Administration Department, Christopher Read, Accessible Media Coordinator, Disability Programs and Resource Center, and Andrew Roderick, Information Technology Director, College of Behavioral and Social Sciences

This resource introduces the accessibility components of the Digital Information Virtual Archive system at San Francisco State University. Specifically, this tutorial provides support for users submitting digital files into the DIVA system in order to help ensure they meet accessibility requirements and best related practices.
