CEETL Circles: On Self-Compassion
Overview
Faculty and staff often support students through stress, hardships, and uncertainty, but may not pause to extend the same care to themselves. Over time, this imbalance can lead to burnout, compassion fatigue, or a struggle on how to balance student needs with one’s own needs. This workshop introduces the concept of self-compassion as an evidence-based practice that supports instructor and staff well-being and promotes effective teaching. We will explore practical ways to cultivate self-compassion in our own lives, from self-kindness to boundary-setting practices, with the goal of supporting our students in more compassionately sustainable ways.
We invite faculty, GTAs and staff to join us in this CEETL circle to come together in community, learn and share a few practices that can help embrace and embody self-compassion in this chaotic world.
